Team Fortress Two

Most of my friends that I know In Real Life are now playing Team Fortress 2, and they are almost all loving it. Even Erin is really enjoying her time in it, especially when she has her ‘healer friend’ (usually me).

Team Fortress 2 is an online first person shooter, similar to Halo/Doom/Quake, for those that do not really know much about games. The emphasis (somewhat obviously) is on co-ordinated tactical teamwork against the opposing team. The graphical style of the game was inspired by 1950’s graphical artists of the time. To me, it kind of looks like the characters stepped out of a bugs bunny cartoon, but with newer styling.

The gameplay is top notch. There are nine distinct classes on each team, covering a variety of tactical roles to help fulfill your objective for the gametype you are playing. For instance, the Scout is very speedy and agile, designed to jump into and out of combat before the better armed classes can get a bead on him. The Heavy Weapons Guy lives up to his name, carrying a minigun that would give former Senator Ventura’s Character from ‘The Predator’ pause for thought.  If he can get an enemy in his sights, chances are they won’t get away. The class is very slow moving as a result of his weapons weight however, allowing the other classes to have a chance to flank, or run away.

I’ve been playing the game for a few weeks now, and it looks like, I will be playing it for quite some time to come with my friends.  I would go on more about it, but I simply do not have the time right now to write another page and a half about the game!
